Quick Questions and Answers about Marketing

Question 1 via a Facebook business group:

On one of my business groups, a business owner posted this request:

I have a fast-growing, highly engaged natural hair community. By *natural hair* I mean ethnic women who choose not to use chemical hair straighteners.

Think of it like this: “I’ve got big hair and I don’t care!”! I started the group as a hobby, but would love ideas for how to monetize it. They want healthy, long hair and ideas for styling it. They are addicted to hair products and how-to videos. There are a TON of free hair tutorials online. It’s ridiculous. I don’t want to make hair products or start a magazine.

My client’s website is using WordPress.org and I made a snapshot to show her how to do it (see below).

Mary-Louise also asks about her strategy for creating banner images to use in Facebook – which I definitely agree with.

Let me know if you have any questions or anything to share about your Facebook experiences.

How to Schedule Your Posts on an Editorial Calendar inside your Website

Can an Editorial Calendar really work? I hear this question a lot and the short answer is, “Yes, it can!”. The long answer is, “Yes, it can if you set it up properly and use it consistently.”. I know people who use all types of ways to remind themselves when to write on their blog, here are just a few:

  • To Do Lists (paper and online)
  • Spreadsheets (printed and online)
  • Marketing Websites where you may or may not pay a monthly fee to schedule all your tasks
  • Task Scheduling software (again you may or may not have to pay, depending on the brand)
